BOMA Boston update: BOMA Fallfest, BOMA Roundtable, BOMI Course, and TOBY & Industry Awards
Boston, MA On September 26th, a group of BOMA Boston members volunteered at Bridge Over Troubled Waters for our Fall Service Day. Volunteers spent time preparing meals and setting up the Welcome Center for the youth of Bridge. At the conclusion of volunteering, BOMA president Jennifer Twombly, presented Bridge with a check for $70,000. BOMA Boston is proud to continue our charitable partner relationship with Bridge!
BOMA Boston will host the annual BOMA Fallfest on October 12th at High Street Place Food Hall. Over 300 BOMA members and guests will gather for a night of networking and food and beverages from a handful of the 20 featured vendors of High Street Place Food Hall! Registration is open for the Real Estate Investment and Finance Course with instructor Barry Familetto, Stetson Management & Development LLC. The course begins on October 16th and will conclude on November 15th. The course combines the latest industry practices with practical applications, including spreadsheet examples that showcase current calculation methods and provide multiple resources to address your investment and finance needs. New micro-lessons offer insights into the “Rule of 72,” owner objectives including calculations and analysis, and maximizing the success of real estate contracts through contract type selection, negotiation, terms, and conditions. On October 17th, BOMA Boston will hold a roundtable event on Façade and Garage Safety. The discussion will be moderated by Erika Clarke of National Development. Expert panelists, Greggrey Cohen, structural repair and rehabilitation division head at SGH; Marc Pinette, general manager, Melrose Glass; Sean Davis, senior director, waterproofing and restoration at PIERCE Property Services; and Todd Gilbert, general manager, LAZ Parking, will share their expertise on how to inspect, maintain, and waterproof building facades, including meeting Boston Façade Ordinance requirements. Proper maintenance of facades and garages can prevent issues from small leaks to major collapses and protect the value of the asset. Join the Greater Boston Real Estate Board (GBREB) for an introduction to Commercial Real Estate (CRE)! The GBREB DEI College Career Showcase will take place on October 19th from 4:00 -5:30 p.m. via Zoom. GBREB consists of five divisions: Building Owners and Managers Association, Boston (BOMA Boston), Commercial Brokers Association (CBA), Greater Boston Association of Realtors (GBAR), Real Estate Finance Association (REFA), and Massachusetts Apartment Association (MAA). This program will include a panel discussion with industry professionals from all five divisions who will provide an introductory overview of the commercial real estate industry and its many career paths, and will share their tips on how to connect, network, and launch your career. BOMA Boston will host a Connect with BOMA Breakfast on October 24th from 9 - 10:30 a.m. at Chrome Gym located at 1 Center Plaza in Boston. Prospective BOMA members are invited to attend and learn about BOMA and meet with some of our members. This event is complimentary for prospective members and BOMA members. The BOMA TOBY & Industry Awards will be held on Thursday, November 16th at the Westin Copley Place. BOMA Boston will recognize the best and brightest in property management, building operations and service in the commercial real estate industry.
