SV Design and Erland Construction complete The Block at Odell Park
Beverly, MA SV Design and Erland Construction completed a new 167,230 s/f six-story, mixed-use property for developer, Beverly Crossing.
The Block at Odell Park houses 106 apartments, an array of amenities, and 9,000 s/f of retail space. Constructed on a tight site adjacent to the state’s third busiest commuter rail stop, the Beverly Depot Train Station, the new building is part of a larger revitalization of the city’s downtown.
The Block was meticulously designed to complement the emerging neighborhood while adding to the existing Rantoul St. aesthetic. A key feature is the historic incorporation of the iconic Joseph A. Appleton Building (Hotel Walter) as a prominent corner element. The residential floors have a mix of studio, one- and two-bedroom layouts. Amenities include a two-story parking garage, lounge/billiards, fitness center, and an ‘urban style’ courtyard. The building also boasts a sky lounge and roof deck with expansive views of the nearby Bass River waterfront and Odell Park.
“We were thrilled to partner with Beverly Crossing and SV Design to design and construct this project,” said Eric Greene, vice president, residential group manager, Erland. “A lot of planning and thought has gone into this building, recognizing its positive contribution to the community and the revitalization of Beverly’s downtown. Having a great place to live goes a long way in helping to attract people and building the city’s future.”
This property allows residents to enjoy features and services found at comparable properties in downtown Boston while experiencing the benefits of the city’s North Shore location, including arts and culture, employment centers, schools, and transit options, all on a smaller scale with an urban feel.
“It is our hope that residents of this capstone project in the heart of Beverly will enjoy living near the many restaurants, the train station, and the farmers market that takes place at Odell Park,” said Thad Siemasko, principal at SV Design. “We are happy with the way this building represents the evolution of Rantoul Street while maintaining a piece of historical Beverly with the restoration of the hotel on the corner.”
“The completion of The Block marks an exciting time for our residents and team members alike,” said Chris Koeplin, president of Beverly Crossing. “Our commitment to serving Beverly and transforming the city into a desirable destination and strong, thriving community is evidenced in the design and craftsmanship of this unique property.”
