2023 Women in CRE: Jennifer Sutherby, Redgate
What recent project, transaction, or accomplishment are you most proud of? It’s usually always the next one. I’ve had the privilege of working on complex healthcare projects that are logistically and operationally challenging throughout my career and find that innovation and shifting institutional needs mean that projects are rarely comparable. Currently I’m working on an operating room expansion, at Boston Medical Center, governed by an IPD contract, which adds a layer of lean collaboration to an already thorough design process, which I find quite fulfilling.
What are the most important factors women in your industry should consider when choosing a firm to build their career with? It’s important to find a firm that aligns with your core values and provides a platform for growth. My success in finding attentive and supportive mentors and colleagues, has come from having those conversations about how we can best elevate one another.
Who inspires you most? What qualities do they possess that inspire you? My grandmother Rose recently passed, and I’ve been thinking about the risks she took to establish a life in the US. It was her foresight, courage, perseverance, unwavering work ethic and ability to always do right by people that inspires me.
Why should this nominee be recognized in our Women in Commercial Real Estate Spotlight? “Jennifer played an instrumental role in Redgate’s work with Boston Medical Center. The first phase of this ambitious five-year plan involves multiple department relocations and building restacks. Jennifer has ensured the ongoing functionality of caregiving space while work began and has assumed a leadership role in keeping all parties informed.” - Kristi Dowd, EVP, Institutional Services at Redgate.
