Charles Construction completes 10,000 s/f dialysis unit for Lahey
Burlington, MA Charles Construction Company, Inc. has completed the Christopher Y. Ying Dialysis unit for Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. This 10,000 s/f on-campus medical fit-out is located on the 5th floor within Lahey Hospital & Medical Center complex on Mall Rd.
“The dialysis project for Lahey went exceptionally smooth, with the project being delivered on schedule, a difficult task when factoring in sudden supply chain issues and manpower shortages,” said project manager Alex Matses, “We conducted a thorough pre-construction process on the project, ensuring our client could meet their deadlines and start scheduling patients based on our provided completion date, the day we broke ground. Charles Construction Company is committed to delivering quality construction and client services for health and wellness facility projects through-out New England.”
The medical space features eleven dialysis stations, fully equipped exam rooms, an isolation room, and a reception area. The unit was named after Christopher Y. Ying, M.D., a senior member of the Lahey Hospital Nephrology Department.
This project is the result of an ongoing collaboration with New England Medical Design (NEMD) Architects headquartered in Providence, R.I.
All mechanical efforts were designed in collaboration between Charles Construction and Bard, Rao + Athenas, Consulting Engineers Inc. of Watertown. “It is always a joy working with Bard, Rao + Athenas, they are responsive, and more importantly they work with you,” said Mike Noyes, the superintendent on the project. One of the many reasons the project was such a success.
Charles Construction’s vice president, Steve Matses said, “These projects are a prime example of what Charles Construction has been providing for the last 69 years, best in industry customer service with a completely transparent model in order to create beneficial relationships for all. We love working with the Lahey team, and look forward to continuing our ongoing relationship down the road.”
