MEREDA to host seminar on Oct.25th

The Maine Real Estate & Development Association will host a members-only "Legislative Review" breakfast seminar on Thursday, October 25th from 7:30-9:30 a.m. at the Italian Heritage Center, 40 Westland Ave. Join us as MEREDA provides a brief recap of the 2007 legislative session, and "Previews of Coming Attractions."
MEREDA is pleased to feature senator Philip Bartlett, Senate chair of the Utilities and Energy committee, and a member of the Natural Resources committee, and Representative ChristopherBarstow, House chair of the state and local government committee, who will share their thoughts with the issues of interest and concern to MEREDA members on the horizon for 2008.
Over 1,900 bills were introduced during the 2007 Legislative Session. MEREDA monitored and was engaged in issues ranging from mortgage foreclosure laws, building codes, landlord/tenant issues, and retail development regulation.
Though the legislature adjourned in June, many committees, commissions and agencies have been active throughout the summer and fall working on a variety of interim studies, carried-over bills, and reports all of which will be introduced to the 2008 legislative session for possible action.
In addition to hearing from Senator Bartlett and Representative Barstow, Patricia Aho, Esq., MEREDA's governmental relations consultant, will provide a brief update on what she sees on the horizon,and Gary Vogel, Esq., MEREDA's chair of the legislative committee, will provide us with a recap of the 2007 session
