Erland Construction returns to Cotting School for 33,600 s/f renovation
Lexington, MA After completing the Campus Center addition project, Cotting School has invited both Erland and ARC/Architectural Resources Cambridge back to campus to renovate 33,600 s/f of space within their existing academic building. Cotting is a private, non-profit school serving children ages 3-22 with special needs by providing an array of integrated services that foster academic achievement, skill development, and social-emotional maturity.
The scope of work will focus on improving functionality, enhancing existing programs, and unlocking the full potential of Cotting’s therapy and learning spaces. Together with ARC, Erland will update classrooms, offices, and meeting rooms, a restroom, multiple corridors, the occupational and physical therapy rooms, and a central ramp. Renovations include new flooring, finishes, and lighting as well as upgraded mechanical, fire alarm, plumbing and sprinkler systems.
“These renovations will keep Cotting School on the cutting edge of special education,” said Bridget Irish, president of Cotting School. “We are excited to continue to meet the needs of our current and future students and to be partnering with Erland on another excellent project.”
The building will remain occupied throughout construction. A phasing plan has been developed to minimize disruption to the school’s ongoing operations.
The renovation is slated to complete this October. This is Erland’s second time partnering with Cotting.
“This project underscores Cotting’s commitment to its students and we’re excited to be involved in delivering these updated spaces to their community,” said Steve Craft, Academic Group Manager, Erland. “We value the relationships we’ve built with the school’s faculty, staff, students, alumni, families, and board members and are thrilled to be back on campus.”
