A/Z Corp. celebrates opening of 28,000 s/f Westerly police headquarters

Recently the town and A/Z Corp. celebrated the grand opening of a new 28,000 s/f police headquarters at 60 Airport Rd.
The building provides members of the police department with a modern facility necessary to continue their tradition and dedication to providing a safe community for all the town's residents.
A/Z Corp. served as construction manager for the $13 million headquarters. A/Z services included design management, pre-construction, procurement, scheduling and construction administration services. Donald Swanson served as project director, Eric Herrman was the project manager and the job superintendent was Kim Vertefeuille.
Design was provided by JCJ Architecture and Bemis Assoc. was the engineer.
In the summer of 2006, construction began on the new police headquarters. It houses all police operations including patrol, dispatch, investigations, prisoner holding and administration. In addition, the facility will serve as a regional emergency operations center in the event of a disaster. Amenities include staff break areas, a fitness center and locker room.
