Murphy of Cummings Properties assists Innovation in Optics on lease
Woburn, MA Light technology firm Innovations in Optics is expanding its headquarters in a 15,600 s/f facility at 10 Gill St., a Cummings Properties building. The new space nearly triples the growing company’s previous operations base, in Cummings Park.
Founded in 1993 by Sarah and Thomas Brukilacchio, Innovations in Optics produces high-power LED light sources for applications in the sciences and other industries. In addition to its new headquarters, it has a distribution presence in Israel.
“This move is well-timed to intensify our contributions to the fight against COVID-19,” said company CFO Sarah Brukilacchio. “The new space enables us to continue to leverage Woburn’s diverse high-technology talent pool and procure more equipment that will expand our capacity to provide the most innovative, industry-leading products to our global clients.”
Innovations in Optics was also attracted to the existing infrastructure at 10 Gill St., according to Cummings Properties account manager Kara Murphy, who worked with the firm on the expansion. Features of the space include a private loading dock, 17-foot clear warehouse, private windowed offices, and a boardroom.
The new facility will support Innovations in Optics’ continued growth by allowing it to move its manufacturing operations in house. It will also be home to the firm’s administrative office and product design functions.
“Innovations in Optics is a prime example of a firm whose technological advancements have shielded it from the recent economic struggles that have followed COVID-19 shutdowns,” said Murphy. “At Cummings, we’re very happy to draw on our large, diverse portfolio to meet the evolving space needs of our leasing clients.”
