BOMA Boston programs and Regional TOBY Award Winners
Boston, MA On Saturday, March 10, the BOMA Boston Benefit took place at the Marriott Long Wharf benefiting BOMA’s Charitable Partner: Bridge Over Troubled Waters, the city’s premier organization dedicated to transforming the lives of runaway, homeless, and high-risk youth. Close to 300 BOMA members and guests participated in the Roaring 20s themed event, consisting of casino gaming, chances to win raffle prizes, dancing, and more. BOMA Boston was able to meet its fundraising goal for Bridge Over Troubled Waters.
The BOMA Boston Engineering Committee held a “tech tour” of the Deer Island Campus and Water Treatment Facility on Friday, April 6. Attendees learned about the basics of wastewater treatment and about the history of Deer Island. The group visited the South System Pump Station, Digester Road, and the disinfection/discharge area.
Join BOMA Boston on April 25 for a Roundtable featuring Katherine Bubriski, director of sustainability & building performance, Arrowstreet, and Conor McGuire, director of sustainability, Columbia Construction Co. on the topic of net zero building. Net zero buildings are becoming more widely known as communities and property owners seek to reduce energy loads, operating costs, and carbon emissions. This presentation will clarify the basic definitions associated with net zero including net zero energy, net zero emissions, and net zero buildings and communities. The program will take place at EnerNOC Learning Center, One Marina Park Dr., with registration at 11:45 a.m., followed by the program from Noon – 1:15 p.m.
BOMA’s partnership with BOMI International remains strong with nine courses scheduled this year in the city. With the educational offerings, BOMA members and non-members learn from senior professionals in the commercial real estate industry to work towards earning their RPA or FMA designations, or PAC or PMFP certifications. Next up in the series will be the Leasing & Marketing for Property Managers course running from May 16 to May 24 at Reservoir Place, 1601 Trapelo Rd. in Waltham. The course will be instructed by Larry Lenrow, managing director of property management & operations, The Davis Cos.
BOMA Boston is excited to announce the six Boston Regional TOBY award winners, who will be awarded at the Regional TOBY Awards and MAC Conference in Buffalo, NY on May 4.
