USGBC Mass. Chapter to host Annual Green Building Showcase at Northeastern University’s Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex on June 15
Boston, MA The US Green Building Council (USGBC) Massachusetts Chapter has formally decided the date and location of the annual Green Building Showcase, an evening celebration that highlights building excellence across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. On June 15, the Annual Green Building Showcase will be held at Northeastern University’s Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex (ISEC), a venue designed by Payette and tracking LEED Platinum certification.
The ISEC has 220,000 s/f of academic space designed with laboratories designed for pharmaceutical discovery, robotics, and security research. The building is a marvel of water and energy efficiency through a variety of Passive House, solar, and high tech design elements. To commemorate the ISEC’s open, mayor Martin Walsh said, “I urge developers in our city to shoot for this world-class design, to match our world-class innovation in this city.”
The ISEC’s interdisciplinary approach will be a great leap forward in the potential synergy and convergence between different fields of science and engineering.
The Annual Green Building Showcase will feature and award prominent buildings for their devotion to sustainable features, such as resilience, energy conservation, and beauty. The highlighted buildings represent firms from across the state, and embody the pinnacle of green building practices. The highest award is “Green Building of the Year,” which last year was awarded to Elkus Manfredi for the New Balance headquarters design.
This year, the Green Building Showcase will feature over 100 project boards, and will have over 300 industry leaders in attendance. Attendees include architects, engineers, contractors, developers, owners, facility managers building users, lenders, suppliers, and sustainability enthusiasts.
