DiPrete, High Road, Spinnaker and Calson complete Hampton Inn
June 12, 2008 - Rhode Island
The 300,000 s/f mixed use development, The Village at South County Commons on Tower Hill Rd., recently added its largest tenant, a 100 room Hampton Inn, the first new hotel built in South County in 30 years. The ribbon cutting ceremony, attended by Marc Landry of High Road Hospitality, Dennis DiPrete of DiPrete Engineering, Caroline Calcagni of Calson Construction, and Andy Kushner of Spinnaker Group, marked a monumental point in the history of The Village at South County Commons. "We were thrilled to be a part of this addition to The Commons," said DiPrete, the project engineer.
The Inn is located at the southern end of the retail and commercial district of the development.
Landry, the developer, said, "There are not too many locations in Rhode Island where a developer can build a new hotel and be within walking distance of an Applebee's, Entertainment Cinema, Brewed Awakenings, Shogun, World Gym and many other retail and service establishments."
The Hampton Inn at The Village at South County Commons' design was reviewed and refined through the town of South Kingstown's review process. Numerous changes of the building façade and building materials were discussed during the initial design process and with the town. "We have an amazing working relationship with the town of South Kingstown. They wanted something that fit with the character of the town, and so did the development team. When you have great communication between the developers and the town, you get an extraordinary end product," said DiPrete.
The project is now over 80% complete, with over 50 retail and commercial businesses, apartments, condominiums, a day care, and an assisted living facility.
DiPrete Engineering is the lead engineering, land planning, and surveying firm for The Village.
