Vantage Builders completes 30,000 s/f renovation for Nationwide Insurance
Worcester, MA Vantage Builders, Inc. completed a two-floor, 30,000 s/f renovation project for Nationwide Insurance at 120 Front St. The firm was hired by building ownership, Franklin Realty Advisors. The renovation project allowed Nationwide to consolidate its workforce in the building to the third and fourth floors, while modernizing its space and making it more efficient.
“It’s a pleasure working for such a well-known company as Nationwide,” said Ed Silva, principal of Vantage Builders. “This project is indicative of much of the work that we do, interior office build-outs for landlords and tenants throughout New England. What made the project challenging was working in a very active office environment.”
A key criteria was ensuring zero downtime for the insurance company. The two-phase project began on the third floor, while Nationwide occupied the fourth, alternating when the third floor was complete. The work included complete interior demolition, new flooring and ceilings, custom millwork, electrical and HVAC.
In total, almost 200 workstations and 18 conference rooms were added to the two floors. A 120-seat training facility and auditorium was created on the third floor. Break rooms on each floor provide employees an opportunity to recharge. The space also includes a kitchen area.
The elevator lobby area on the fourth floor was completely renovated. New lighting, interior paint and office furniture complete the project.
The architect for the project was Gregory J. O’Connor Associates, Inc. Engineering services were provided by Prater Engineering Associates.
Also known as the People’s United Bank building, 120 Front St. consists of nine stories of office space. The building is part of Front + Center, a 640,000 s/f office and retail complex located next to the CitySq. development.
