Callahan Construction Managers breaks ground on senior living, apartment and retail
Bridgewater, MA Callahan Construction Managers have broken ground on projects in the senior housing, residential, and retail markets.
• Benchmark Senior Living at Woburn: Callahan and Benchmark Senior Living recently broke ground on an 87 unit senior living community at 1 Cedar St. Design for the 73,000 s/f structural steel building was designed by JSA Architects. The building includes 20 memory care units and 67 assisted living units. The project is scheduled for a June 2016 completion.
This is Callahan’s second project with Benchmark Senior Living, having recently completed Benchmark’s Shelton, Conn. facility.
• Ocean Front Residences at Meriel Marina Bay in Quincy: Construction has begun at 444 & 443 Victory Dr. Callahan recently began preparing the waterfront site for 352 residential units in two four-story wood framed high-end apartment buildings with 17,000 s/f of retail space on the ground floors. The complex will also include two levels of below grade parking. Due to the site’s waterfront location, Callahan will be repairing an old seawall and adding 22,000 s/f of new boardwalk space on wooden pilings. The project officially broke ground on September 21 and will be Callahan’s third project with Hines. Construction is scheduled for a 2017 completion. The design was provided by Elkus/Manfredi Architects and CUBE 3 Studio.
• Market Basket in Plymouth: Callahan began construction on a new Market Basket at 1 Commerce Way. The store will be part of a shopping center located off Carver and Plympton Rds. and is on schedule for a 10-month completion. The 80,500 s/f structural steel building’s finishes will include brick veneer; ground face masonry units, granite and precast trim along with metal paneling and fiber cement siding. The store will be primarily one story with a mezzanine level in the front and back for office use and additional storage space. Prellwitz/Chilinski Associates was the project architect.
This is Callahan’s sixth Market Basket, having previously completed stores in New Bedford, West Bridgewater, Brockton, Attleboro, and Bourne.
