Spinnaker Real Estate Partners was recognized by two leading commercial real estate industry groups for the Ironworks SONO 130,000 s/f mixed-use development on Water St. in the SoNo District of the city. The Connecticut and Suburban New York chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Property (NAIOP) presented Spinnaker with the Connecticut Project Winner award for Ironworks SONO. The award recognizes the real estate project "evidencing the greatest community impact market adaptability, ingenuity and local contributions."
Spinnaker also went on to claim the Blue Ribbon award presented by the Commercial Real Estate Women, CT., CREW-CT organization at the recent annual Blue Ribbon Showcase event where Ironworks SONO was among nearly 30 finalists. Judges were impressed with the challenges the project overcame including being the first to utilize the Targeted Brownfields Remedy and its contribution towards the continued success of SONO.
The development is comprised of 108 apartments with unobstructed views of the Norwalk Harbor and Long Island Sound with an award winning public courtyard with water feature. Popular restaurants including Harlan Publick and Washington Prime, as well as commercial tenants such as Saraswati's Yoga Joint, The Stand Juice Company and Thinq Mac occupy the first floor.
"Ironworks SONO has evolved into more than just a building. It really has become a truly unique community," said Clayton Fowler, chairman and CEO of Spinnaker. "For that, credit goes to the design, construction and marketing team led by Beinfield Architecture and A Pappajohn Company. The project reflects our company philosophy of building places of value and with Ironworks SONO, we believe we have accomplished that goal. We are honored to have been recognized for this project by both NAIOP and CREW-CT."
