Global firm Xylem, Inc. has leased 39,000 s/f of first-class office, lab, and manufacturing space at 100 Cummings Center. The newly built-out facility, in space formerly occupied by Microsoft, now serves as the headquarters for the water technology company's flow control business.
Xylem worked with Jamie McManus, leasing officer for Cummings Properties, on the transaction. The new Cummings Center site consolidates offices previously located in Gloucester and Woburn.
A spinoff from ITT Corp., Xylem designs and manufactures pumps of all sorts, from those found in restaurant soda fountain machines to those used in the bilges of commercial fishing boats.
"At Xylem, we're dedicated to addressing the planet's most challenging water issues with leading-edge fluid technology and equipment solutions," said John Sullivan, vice president of finance at Xylem. "We believe our new facility at Cummings Center will help us attract the best talent and ensure that we continue to deliver unequaled support and service to our global customers."
According to McManus, Xylem's space spans two floors and features campus views as well as upgraded finishes.
"Because of our in-house expertise in design, architectural services, and construction, we were able to commit to and deliver a custom buildout within an aggressive timeframe," said McManus. "The new space ties together contemporary office design with the building's historically important characteristics."
Xylem's move comes on the heels of the a second lease at the North Shore office and technology park: American Renal Associate's signing for 49,000 s/f at 500 Cummings Center.
McManus said, "We are delighted that these two large, highly regarded firms are relocating their businesses to Cummings Center. They will find good company among the other major companies headquartered at our campus, and will enjoy dozens of convenient on-site amenities."
Cummings Center offers first-class space in new and newly renovated buildings for executive offices, medical practices, and research laboratories. Cummings Center is managed by Cummings Properties, which has a portfolio of 10 million square feet of prime commercial space in 10 communities surrounding Boston.
