TMS Architects' recent project featured on cover of Coastal Home; worked along with Windover Construction and Cebula Design

TMS Architects, was honored that one of their recently-completed projects was chosen as the cover story for the Spring 2012 issue of Coastal Home magazine. The article, written by Erica Holthausen and photographed by Michael Rixon, describes the transformation of an 1890's summer cottage on Boston's North Shore.
TMS Architects' Robert Carty, AIA, was asked by the homeowners to assist with a large renovation project, designed to preserve the historic beauty of the home's exterior while modernizing and reconfiguring the interior spaces. Working with Windover Construction and Cebula Design, the architect was able to change the house into one that was more suitable for a modern family. An extension had been added to the house in the 1920's for the family's use and was not designed to take advantage of the magnificent ocean views.
The renovation opened up the small, dark spaces and increased opportunities for outdoor living while maintaining the original character of the main house. In the article, Carty said, "We were able to look back at the old photographs and get a sense of what the house looked like when it was first built."
