Village Bank awards $40,000 in Scholarships to college bound students

The Village Bank named the recipients of college scholarships totaling $40,000 awarded recently by the bank's Community Charitable Foundation.
Twelve college-bound Newton and Wayland students will share in the awards.
Jennifer Lavalle of Newton North High School and Kathryn Stack of Wayland High School are the recipients of two special scholarships totaling $10,000 each awarded by the Foundation this year. The scholarships will be honored upon successful completion of each of the students' four academic years.
Students applying for the $10,000 scholarships must have demonstrated active involvement in community and/or charitable causes.
The Auburndale Community Charitable Foundation also granted 10 one-time $2,000 scholarships.
The $2,000 scholarship winners were: Meghan Arsenault, Newton Country Day School; Mary Gowins, Newton North High School; Rachael Boggia, Wayland High School; Elena Swartz, Newton North High School, and Anna Ziering, Boston University Academy. Also, all from Newton South High School: Seth Mermelstein, Adrienne Lerner, Stephanie Newton, Elizabeth Pezza, and Alexander M. Jarowey.
