Richey Woodworking & Design works toward green power with two new energy saving projects
January 2, 2008 - Construction Design & Engineering
Mark Richey Woodworking and Design has installed a $500,000 biomass furnace to heat the building and make the company more environmentally sound.
The furnace will burn the wood/sawdust byproduct that in turn heats a boiler that circulates water throughout the wood shop.
Also the company has received a grant of $474,000 from the Mass. Technology Collaborative (MTC) to build a wind turbine. The 600 kilowatt turbine will cost approx. $1.45 million.
These two energy saving projects will help the wood shop get closer to being self-sufficient and a 100% green company.
