Abbot Building Restoration completes renovations to 253 Shawmut Ave.
September 2, 2010 - Owners Developers & Managers
Abbot Building Restoration Company, Inc. recently completed a restoration to the facade of a historic brick and brownstone building at 253 Shawmut Ave.
Located in the city's landmark South End district, the brick and brownstone building was constructed in the mid-1800s in the grand architectural style typical of that era. The building had undergone several restorations over the years, and a portion of the façade was removed.
Abbot's small projects division was contracted to repair the deteriorated brownstone lintel over the front door, and to restore the pediment on the right side of the door opening. Significantly, Abbot acquired a photograph of the building from the South End Architectural Commission that allowed the company to match the original detail of the period.
