President's message: Christy of Babson welcomed as CCIM
It is with great pleasure that I introduce to the greater New England market the two newest Certified Commercial Investment Members (CCIM). Penny Christy of Babson Capital Management in Springfield, MA and Tim Latham of Lincoln Property Company in Boston, MA have just finished the humbling gauntlet that is the CCIM designation process. The entire New England Chapter wishes to congratulate them both on surviving five full weeks of courses, a full resume review and of course the marathon test. Make sure if you see them, you pass along congratulations on this great accomplishment.
New designees like those mentioned above, chapter members and people just curious about CCIM are all welcome to attend our upcoming regional networking event: CCIM Partners. This is a two day intense, networking, social and educational event put on by the CCIM national Institute. We will have high powered marketing sessions, technology training, keynote speakers, CCIM national leadership and training classes, all in a jam-packed two day time frame. So block off the 8th and 9th of May and visit www.ccim.com for more details.
After that please look to our website for other upcoming events such as our resume review class and our participation in the JP Morgan Fun Run. The resume review is open to chapter members only and is great for anyone looking to fulfill the requirements to become a CCIM. For those of you who have been in Boston in the early summer know that when the Fun Run comes to town, the city shuts down for a 3.5 mile run around Commonwealth Avenue. Always a good time with great friends, chapter members and guests. More information can be found at www.neccim.com.
Of course I would be remiss to not congratulate SIOR Chapter President Mark Stevens and SIOR Extreme Racer Michael Giancola on their victory at the 1st ever CCIM/SIOR F1 Race Challenge. What a feat of endurance all of our competitors displayed as they raced around the track at speeds of over 40 mph. Trust me, I have a new found respect for racecar drivers as the following day I could not pick up a pencil, let alone a steering wheel. Michael took the checked flag for SIOR and the trophy. So congrats to Michael, Mark and all of the SIORs who took part in the race. We will get you next year!!
As always if you have questions on anything CCIM, I am always free (603) 668-7000.

Coming out of the pandemic, a client with three hotels in Provincetown, Mass., needed ways to let the world know his properties were open for business for the 2021 tourist season.
While there is some flexibility when structuring a like-kind exchange, some important requirements must be met. A mistake can ruin your exchange. Here are five mistakes to avoid:
