President's message: All good things must come to an end
All good things must come to an end. As my term of president of this great organization comes to an end, this is my final president's message. I want to thank my officers for volunteering this year. And congratulate the new officers for 2011.
It has been a great year for our chapter, and I want to give a special call out to the people that made it possible. Jeremy Cyrier, the 2011 president has shown his great abilities this past year in his role as vice president. He has kept all of us on track with his duties as a national instructor and the contacts he has made in the CCIM Institute will prove invaluable for our chapter going forward.
To Bob Shannon, our treasurer... thanks for keeping us on track, financially and with your support. Our secretary, Mark Dickey, did a great job this year. Also, I want to thank our committee chair people for volunteering. Jeanne Barreta, education, put on a record number of programs this year and has set up the 2011 schedule with even more. Erin Link, programs, did an outstanding job in creating a number of social events that brought our chapter closer together and created our first "charity" golf tournament to benefit our soldier's families. John Hughes in membership also did a fine job. I want to thank Chris Norwood for his continued help and I know that he will be as great an inspiration for Jeremy, as he was for me. And finally, to Heather Campbell, our administrative guru, Heather, it has been a pleasure working with you this year. You are the glue that has kept us all on track.
I also want to thank all of the volunteers and participants that worked on the many programs we had this past year. They were all very successful!
So as we end this CCIM year we are still in the midst of a recovery. Granted we are in better shape than we were last October, but we still have a long way to go. With the midterm elections coming up in a few weeks, I urge you to vote for the politian's in your area that support the Realtor party and the programs that will help us get back to the "good ole' days." Have a great year in 2011 and remember to join CCIM New England chapter and attend our programs and social events. Check us out at www.NECCIM.com.

While there is some flexibility when structuring a like-kind exchange, some important requirements must be met. A mistake can ruin your exchange. Here are five mistakes to avoid:
Coming out of the pandemic, a client with three hotels in Provincetown, Mass., needed ways to let the world know his properties were open for business for the 2021 tourist season.
Many real estate investors do not understand the specific requirements that must be met to secure the benefits of a tax-deferred 1031 exchange. For example, the replacement property must be identified within 45 days of the closing date of the relinquished property.
To say that the effects of COVID-19 has transformed office leasing is an understatement. When COVID-19 was at its peak, office spaces were practically abandoned either through governmental mandates or through actions taken by businesses themselves.
