Piercey named partner in charge of the Boston office of Marcum LLP

Boston, MA Margery Piercey, a widely recognized leader in both the Massachusetts accounting industry and the national accounting profession, has been named partner in charge of the Boston office of Marcum LLP.  She will also serve as a member of the national accounting and advisory firm’s executive committee. The appointment is effective immediately.

In just a few months, Marcum’s Boston and Needham offices will combine under one roof in a new, Boston office designed to accommodate the firm’s growth in Mass., create an environment that increases collaboration and efficiency, and further the firm’s success in attracting and retaining top talent.

Piercey will lead the consolidated team with oversight responsibility for all client services, firm growth, operations and staff development.

A highly accomplished accounting professional, Piercey has more than 30 years of experience, serving a diverse client base ranging from start-ups to multigenerational businesses, and partnerships to public companies and non-profit organizations. She has held senior management roles in various segments of the accounting industry and is a Board member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and past chair of the Massachusetts Society of CPAs (MSCPA), which named her a Woman to Watch in 2015.

Piercey specializes in audit, advisory and compliance services. Immediately prior to joining Marcum, she was leader of the commercial industries audit department at a regional accounting firm.  She previously spent eight years with a “Big 4” firm and six years in industry, working in corporate financial reporting and treasury management. As an author and speaker, Piercey’s portfolio of thought leadership includes corporate financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, financial analysis, governance, and compliance guidance.

She holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst Isenberg School of Management, which named her Accounting Alumnus of the Year in 2004.  She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA).

An active community member in Boston and her home state of Massachusetts, Piercey has donated her expertise and philanthropy to multiple charitable organizations. Her present and past board and advisory roles include Mass Insight Education, The Boston Foundation, Boston Symphony Orchestra, United Way of Tri-County, the Tara Bean Foundation, Family Business Association, and the Isenberg School of Management.
