Pickard Chilton promotes six

Owen Howlett

New Haven, CT Pickard Chilton promoted six professionals. Owen Howlett rises to associate principal, Andrew Gorzkowski and Thomas Frechette are senior associates, while Lila Sferlazza, Macario Bandera, and Sofia Zavala each have been named associates.

Lila Sferlazza

Owen Howlett AIA, LEED AP, who joined the firm in 2015, is leading the design teams for several large-scale, mixed-use master plans including such developments as the Le Coeur project, a repositioning of existing and new buildings on sites in Düsseldorf, Germany, and CoStar Group’s new corporate campus in Richmond, VA. Howlett received his Master of Architecture degree from Yale School of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and minor in Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia.

Andrew Gorzkowski

Andrew Gorzkowski AIA, LEED GA is a project designer for 887 West Peachtree, an office tower in midtown Atlanta. Joining the firm in 2013, he has played a role in the design of 2+U, a LEED-CS Platinum office tower in Seattle; Remscheid Designer Outlet Centre, an open-air low-rise luxury retail development in Remscheid, Germany; and mixed-use developments in Florida and Tokyo, Japan. Gorzkowski received his Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University.

Macario Bandera

Thomas Frechette AIA brings more than 30 years of design experience on a range of innovative corporate, mixed-use, research, and cultural projects. He is co-leader of the design of the CoStar Group’s new campus in Richmond, VA. Frechette holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Miami and received his Master of Architecture from Yale University School of Architecture.

Lila Sferlazza is a designer for a 1.25 million s/f corporate mass timber campus in California. Recently, she was a designer for 325 Main, Google Cambridge’s next-generation headquarters in Cambridge, Mass. Sferlazza holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. 

Thomas Frechette

Macario Bandera is serving as project designer for Sherwin-Williams’ 36-story new corporate headquarters in Cleveland.

Sofia Zavala

Most recently, he was a contributing designer for a Human Performance Institute, a medical and sports rehabilitation clinic. Bandera was also a team member for a 35-story corporate headquarters in Cincinnati. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Iowa State University.

Sofia Zavala is a project designer for the PG&E Block Redevelopment in San Francisco, a 1.6 million s/f redevelopment project. Zavala has experience developing and coordinating all phases of design and construction services, holding key roles on mixed-use, corporate, and commercial projects ranging from large scale master planning to interior design. She received a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University with a minor in theater design and technology.

“We are excited to announce the elevation of Owen, Andrew, Thomas, Lila, Macario and Sofia, whose dedication and leadership have been essential to the studio,” said principal Jon Pickard of Pickard Chilton. 

“The growth of Pickard Chilton has been in large part to the creative and innovative talent that makes up the studio, and each of these professionals have played a significant role in those contributions,” said principal William Chilton.

Pickard Chilton is the design architect for more than 1.4 billion s/f (130 million m2) of mixed-use, multi-family, and office developments across the U.S. and around the world, including work for Hines, Boston Properties, and Skanska, as well as corporate headquarters campuses and towers for leading companies including Google, ExxonMobil, Sherwin-Williams, Northwestern Mutual, The CoStar Group, and Mutual of Omaha.
