Parsons of Riemer & Braunstein named new president of NEWire

New England Women in Real Estate (NEWiRE), a regional organization of close to 400 women in the real estate industry, has announced that Joan Parsons, a senior partner at the law firm of Riemer & Braunstein, will be the group's new president. "NEWiRE continues to be an important force supporting women professionals in the commercial real estate industry. I look forward to continuing the growth and advancing the mission of the organization," said Parsons. NEWiRE is a chapter of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW), a growing national association in the real estate sector. NEWiRE provides a forum for networking and professional development for women in all real estate disciplines throughout New England. Parsons' platform as president will focus on networking effectively and maximizing leadership potential. The organization focuses on providing educational programs that foster the development of women in the industry. Sandra Fenwick, president and COO of Children's Hospital, was the keynote speaker at the group's annual conference. NEWiRE attracts industry leaders, like Fenwick, to speak at programs, seminars, and special events throughout the year, keeping members up-to-date on topical real estate issues and industry trends. "Riemer & Braunstein is pleased to support NEWiRE and Joan's commitment to the organization over the past several years," said Stanley Riemer, managing partner at Riemer & Braunstein. An experienced real estate and finance attorney, Parsons has spent more than 20 years representing financial institutions in large, multi-lender transactions and in complex real estate financings. Parsons has been an active member of NEWiRE for many years and has co-chaired NEWiRE's Membership Committee and Communications Committee. She currently coordinates the NEWiRE Mentor Program in which experienced NEWiRE members are paired with new members. Since its establishment in 1982, NEWiRE has grown to almost 400 members who are today taking advantage of the many opportunities for professional growth and business development that NEWiRE offers. NEWIRE's goals include providing professional support, development, education, encouragement and networking opportunities to its members and to the Greater Boston real estate community.
