Office Interiors completes Salient Surgical offices

Office Interiors Limited completed the interior design and space planning for Salient Surgical Technologies' new building located at Pease International Tradeport. The building is owned by Two International Group and was designed by DeStefano Architects. The project included design, finish selection and furniture specification for over 100 employees in work- stations, private offices, conference rooms, a training/seminar facility, 2 cafeterias, and a gym. Office Interiors Limited worked closely with Salient's project team to develop spaces and workstations to meet the specific needs of their company. One of the most important spaces in the building is the training room where seminars are held to educate customers on the products. This training room is furnished with powered training tables that allow visitors to plug laptops directly into the surface for power and data access. One of the challenges of the project was to furnish the building with a specific focus on the future growth of the company over the next few years. By creating open break out spaces in the design and simplifying the workstation components the layout will adjust as the company expands. Salient's style of employee collaboration and creative problem solving was the inspiration for many new ideas in the space. A custom work surface was designed to allow each employee to have an area at their desk to meet with colleagues and encourage teamwork. Private offices and conference rooms were all designed with full walls of white-board surfaces for brainstorming and project organization.

Massachusetts taxpayers dodged a bullet when the state Senate didn’t take up legislation passed by the House in the waning moments of the legislative session that would have made it easier for municipalities and state agencies to use union-only project labor agreements (PLAs) on construction projects.

Ask the Electrician: How do I prepare my commercial building for a disaster?

New England’s notorious weather – from fierce winter storms to summer squalls and fall hurricanes – can leave businesses in the dark. While power outages are often blamed on storms, they can also be caused by unforeseen events like accidents or construction mishaps. While it’s impossible to prevent disasters and power outages entirely, proactive preparation can significantly minimize their impact on your commercial building.
