Nitsch Engineering: LEED Gold for Corporate Interiors
In early 2012, Nitsch Engineering decided they needed more office space, as they were quickly outgrowing their current space. Nitsch wanted to relocate to an open plan, one that would be better suited to teamwork, and also be a more welcoming environment for their 80 employees. In collaboration with Margulies Perruzzi Architects (MPA), WB helped transform Nitsch's vision into a reality in less than a year. Their new office at Two Center Plaza is 18,000 s/f, all on one floor.
Nitsch's office space features two separate zones: a "public zone" used for external collaboration including a reception area, conference rooms and training spaces; and a "private work zone" for internal collaboration including low-walled workstations.
Known for being a leader in sustainable design consulting services for over 15 years, it was important to Nitsch to have their own space LEED certified. The project team spent a great deal of time and effort into evaluating different solutions with energy-efficient LED lighting, ECM motors, and controlled systems to maximize LEED value, all while working within a very tight budget. From the technical aspects to the furniture in the suite, every inch of the new office space incorporates components of sustainable design. The result of the team's focus on sustainable design was a LEED Gold for Corporate Interiors certification from the USGBC.

The industrial markets have never been stronger. What has happened is that the build out of Devens with new high-tech biotech manufacturing with housing to service these buildings serves as the connector required to really make the I-495 West market sizzle. Worcester has been the beneficiary
