Newman of W&M Properties leases 3,339 s/f at Metro Center

LaBranche & Co. Inc., a Manhattan-based company that is one of the nation's largest designated market makers in exchange listed securities, will open an office at Metro Center, according to Jeffrey Newman, executive vice president of W&M Properties, the marketing and management agent for the building. LaBranche & Co. Inc. is the parent of LaBranche & Co. LLC and of LaBranche Structured Holdings, Inc., whose subsidiaries are specialists and market makers in options, exchange traded funds and futures on various exchanges domestically and internationally. The company is headquartered at 33 Whitehall St. in Manhattan. "Manhattan firms continue to open offices in the suburban markets, and often choose W&M Properties because of the quality of our trophy buildings and their convenient locations," said Newman. "LaBranche needed additional space to accommodate newly hired talent, and Metro Center was the ideal fit. Its location directly adjacent to the Stamford Transportation Center provides an easy commute to and from the Manhattan offices." LaBranche will occupy 3,339 s/f on the fifth floor under terms of a five-year lease that begins this fall. W&M Construction will build out the space for the tenant. Newman and senior leasing associate Kimberly Zaccagnino represented the landlord. Michael Hibbert of Plaza Realty & Management Corp. represented the tenant. Built in 1986, the property is an eight-story 280,000 s/f Class A multi-tenanted building located at the Stamford Transportation Center which recently completed a $95 million enhancement program. W&M Properties is the real estate management, marketing and acquisition arm of the Malkin family
