New Fairfield Train Station generates leasing activity
Abbey Road Advisors, LLC of Westport sees increased leasing activity at its Class A office buildings at 777 Commerce Dr. and 1375 Kings Hwy. adjacent to the new Fairfield train station now that the developer has secured financing to complete more than $5 million of infrastructure work needed to make the train station operational. Under a new agreement, the 1,500 space parking lot at the train station is ceded to the State of Connecticut which is now completing work on a bridge and interior road, train platforms and pedestrian walkway.
"The new commuter rail station will be a real catalyst for economic development in the eastern part of Fairfield. It already has spurred substantial new investment in the area, and I would expect activity to build as the economy improves and work on the new station nears completion," said Mark Barnhart, director of Community and Economic Development for the Town of Fairfield.
Providence, RI Shawmut Design and Construction celebrated the ceremonial groundbreaking for the 195 District Park Pavilion, marking the start of construction on a facility that will feature year-round dining and support space for park operations.
