New England Construction and BKA Architects complete 33,000 s/f Nissan Village Dealership

The new Nissan Village car dealership opened on November 7, 2011. The design of the new dealership building by BKA Architects reflected Nissan North America's brand as outlined by their dealer prototype, as well as Nissan Village's specific dealership needs. New England Construction was the general contractor for the project. The original plan had been to renovate and expand the existing building in order to align the facility with Nissan North America's current brand standards and dealer program requirements. After evaluating this option in relation to building lifecycle, construction cost and ability to comply with new energy code and ADA code requirements, Nissan Village determined that the best course of action was to construct a new dealership on a site next to their current facility. The new 33,000 s/f, two-story building has a showroom, management and sales offices, parts office and storage, a customer service area, and a service department with 19 service bays. In developing the design, BKA Architects ensured that it incorporated both Nissan Village's specific requirements; as-well-as complied with Nissan North America's brand standard and program requirements. One of the features of the dealership is the connection the customer service area has with both the showroom and the service area. Customers in the customer service area have an open view of the showroom as well as a visual connection to the service area. Those waiting for their vehicles to be serviced are able to observe the service process while enjoying refreshments from either the coffee station or bistro. Construction was started in February 2011. New England Construction maintained the established schedule and met important milestones throughout the construction process.
