Murphy joins Gilbane Building Co.

Michele Murphy has joined Gilbane Building Co. as senior project executive, to grow Gilbane's higher education practice in the commonwealth. Prior to joining Gilbane, Murphy ran her own construction consulting firm focusing on higher education. Before starting her own firm, Murphy worked for over 20 years at Shawmut Design and Construction. With Shawmut her most recently position was managing director, where she held numerous roles, including project executive on academic projects and director of business operations. Murphy is an expert in higher education construction management. For over 15 years, Murphy served as account manager for Harvard University. She has delivered over 150 projects on the Harvard campus encompassing the full range of campus facility types including laboratories, classrooms, administrative, residential life, athletics, food service and healthcare. Her work has included both new construction and historic renovation projects, working on buildings dating from 1744 to present day, including such iconic buildings as Memorial Hall Tower Spire, University Hall, the President's House and the Barker Center at Harvard University. She understands the complexities of working on an operational campus, providing for student safety and partnering with clients while delivering the project on time and on budget. Murphy holds a B.S. in Finance from University of Arizona and is on the facilities committee for Codman Academy Charter Public School in Boston.
