Robert McKinney of JB Knowledge Robert McKinney, JB Knowledge

Framingham, MA Technology is rapidly transforming the construction industry, and to help members keep up, we recently held our third annual “TECHtoberfest” featuring presentations and demos covering the latest in mobile technologies.  Our special guest speaker was Robert McKinney of JB Knowledge, known as the “Construction App Guru,” who gave an overview of trends in technology, then did a deep dive on the mobile apps now available to improve workflow around plans, daily reports, photos, safety, and time entry.

After McKinney’s presentation, there were short demos of the latest mobile tools from leading providers including Dexter + Chaney, Milwaukee Tool, Safesite, Skysite, and Touchplan.  With the use of mobile apps quickly becoming mandatory on major project sites, it was eye-opening to see how far mobile technologies have advanced in the past 10 years – and get a glimpse into what’s next with mobile devices, “wearables”, and other advancements to increase efficiency on the job site.
