Mitchell named 2015 Robert W. Holmes SIOR Scholarship winner

Boston, MA SIOR New England Chapter, Inc., a professional affiliate of the National Association of Realtors, recently recognized Leeds Mitchell, senior vice president at MG Commercial, as the 2015 Robert W. Holmes SIOR Scholarship winner at the 16th Annual Scholarship Night, due in part to his success in the real estate industry and overall outstanding merit. Held on September 30 at Cinquecento Boston, the event hosted numerous SIOR members including Don Mancini, president, Tim Brodigan, vice president, Mike Giuttari, treasurer, Katherine Williams Kane, secretary, and Geoffrey Kasselman, SIOR National president elect.

Mitchell primarily focuses on office sales and leasing throughout Rhode Island. Recently named as a prestigious 40 Under Forty by Providence Business News, Mitchell oversees a diverse portfolio of clients including Bank of America, John Hancock Financial Services, Rockland Trust, and Swipely. Additionally, he serves as a Trustee of the Providence Preservation Society, a board member of the Hope Club, and is the past president of the Business Exchange Club of R.I.

“Leeds has been an outstanding leader both as a member of SIOR New England and in Rhode Island’s commercial real estate market, and we are thrilled to recognize his accomplishments with the Robert W. Holmes Scholarship,” said Mancini. “Boasting an impressive project portfolio, network, and drive, Leeds will continue to see great success in his respective field - all of which are premier qualities that we search for when identifying candidates for this honor.”

Running from 6-8 p.m., the event kicked-off with a networking opportunity for SIOR members and other notable real estate professionals. After presenting Mitchell with the $2,000 scholarship award, Mancini recognized Rob Nahigian, principal at Auburndale Realty Co. and SIOR member, for recently being named the 2015 Massachusetts Real Estate Educator of the Year by the Massachusetts Association of Realtors (MAR). This honor represents the second year that Nahigian has received this award, having previously won in 2011.

The Robert W. Holmes SIOR Scholarship was named after Bob Holmes, long-time SIOR member, past SIOR chapter president, and founder of the R.W. Holmes Realty in Natick, Mass. The scholarship is available by application only to an SIOR Candidate that best exemplifies a commitment to the SIOR organization and has a consistent record of stellar professionalism as an office/industrial broker in the Greater Boston market.
