Middlesex 3 Coalition: Steve Sadwick, Assistant Town Manager, Town of Tewksbury

Steve Sadwick
Assistant Town Manager
Town of Tewksbury

What is the most exciting job/project/goal for your company/city or town in 2021? The Town of Tewksbury was fortunate that permitting and construction did not slow down during 2020. Home Depot’s 750,000 s/f new construction fulfillment center will be opening later this year in the western part of town. Market Basket, headquartered in Tewksbury, has proposed plans for a substantial upgrade to Stadium Plaza located near the Lowell line. The town also has a number of public projects either under way or starting in 2021. Those projects include a new Center Fire Station, a new 140,000 s/f elementary school and reconstruction of 1.2 miles of Rte. 38, which will be bid in September of 2021.

What types of companies is your city or town looking to attract? Tewksbury has a significant number of high-tech companies that are currently in town. Raytheon, Thermo-Fisher, and L3 Harris have a significant footprint in town. These types of businesses and associated affiliates can take advantage of existing facilities in town. The Center at Innovation Drive is one example of an existing facility that houses Corning Life Sciences, Raytheon, and WorldWide Tech Services. In addition, Tewksbury has newly constructed mixed-use properties along Rte. 38 that can accommodate more locally tailored businesses in the retail or professional office sectors.

What do you like the most about doing business in the M3 region? The M3 region offers a substantial amount of support systems to allow for a company to thrive. Whether it is workforce development, higher education, or ease of highway access, the region is a place where businesses can succeed. All of the communities in the M3 region work cooperatively across municipal borders and with partners at the State level. In addition to support and coordination through the Middlesex 3 Coalition, there are a number of local business organizations and chambers in the region.
