Maugel Architects designs Laddawn’s 23,000 s/f headquarters

55 Jackson Road - Devens, MA 55 Jackson Road - Devens, MA

Devens, MA According to Maugel Architects, construction has begun on the three-story addition to Laddawn, Inc.’s headquarters at 155 Jackson Rd. Laddawn, a manufacturer of plastics and film for packaging applications, currently occupies a Maugel-designed building which was an adaptive reuse of the Devens Library. The 23,000 s/f addition will nearly triple the size of the existing building.

Working closely with the owner, the Maugel team designed an innovative interpretation of the workplace. Traditional office layouts were replaced with creative, fun, and inviting common spaces; treadmill and balance ball workstation areas; a café-style kitchen; an outdoor patio; and lounge areas. The new design incorporates an organic-industrial concept featuring a modern façade treatment and interior quality-of-life amenities. The aesthetic is achieved by bringing “the outside in” through the installation of a climbing wall with faux grass, a combination of slate and faux wood tile, exposed steel structures, and organic-patterned architectural screens.

“It’s been a pleasure working with the clients, Ladd and Dawn, and the owner’s rep, Mike Lanney of Apex Properties. It’s exciting to see our vision become a reality. Not only was the project fun to design, it’s going to create a vibrant and welcoming environment for Laddawn’s employees,” said Cindi Cascio, project architect at Maugel.

“It’s great to have construction begin at Laddawn. The creative design elements and wonderful amenities are going to make this a fantastic workspace.”
