Mark your calendars for new 2008 upcoming events

According to the Real Estate Finance Association of Connecticut's Hartford Chapter, James Carville, one of American's best-known political consultants, will be speaking to the REFA members on May 13th at the Hartford Hilton. Carville's long list of electoral successes evidences a knack for steering overlooked campaigns to unexpected landslide victories and for re-making political underdogs into upset winners. All REFA members will be invited to this presentation. Carville will speak for 30 minutes, followed by a question and answer session. A networking social will follow the presentation. This is a new member benefit. If you are not a REFA member, please contact the executive office to get a membership application or visit the web site at www.refact.org. Co-sponsors of this event are BOMA/Greater Hartford, CoreNet, and MetroHartford Alliance. On Wednesday, March 19th, the Hartford Chapter will be hosting a breakfast meeting on It's Not Easy Being Green: Profitable Green Real Estate Strategies. The panelists are Jerome Speltz, P.E. of Cornerstone Real Estate Advisers, and Richard Mattila of Genzyme Corporation. The discussion will focus on 'green' buildings. On June 2nd, REFA will be hosting their annual golf outing at a new venue. This year's outing will take place at the Woodbridge Country Club. This new venue offers the members and their guests a chance to play at a new course. Plans are underway for the 3rd annual REFA Gala. This year's gala will take place at the Great River Country Club in Milford on October 23rd. The entertainer for the evening will be Jake Johannsen, a comedian who has performed many times on David Letterman and other late night shows. His act is a 'not-to-be-missed' performance. Mark your calendars now for these great events. All members have received their 2008 dues invoices. For those who have not yet renewed, do so now. The Association continues to grow, with over 650 members in the two chapters. Sponsorships are still available and what a great way to showcase your company to the members! Attendance at the monthly meetings has grown to well over 150 attendees. If you are involved in commercial real estate in Connecticut, join REFA now so that you don't miss out on any of the outstanding events that are being planned for 2008.
