Margulies Perruzzi Architects completes expansion for Teleflex Medical OEM: RDK Engineers assists with 12,000 s/f Jaffrey, NH project

Margulies Perruzzi Architects (MPA) completed a building expansion project with RDK Engineers for Teleflex Medical OEM. The design by MPA and RDK provided Teleflex with a new, 12,000 s/f addition to its existing manufacturing space. This included a vertical extrusion tower used in the shaping and manufacturing of medical grade tubing. The design and engineering of the tower presented a challenge due to the proprietary extrusion process used by Teleflex. The design team working with the users and engineers looked at the entire manufacturing process to ensure the new tower was positioned in a way so as not to be disruptive to the existing manufacturing floor. Due to the complexity of the project, MPA worked with RDK along with the process and production engineers at Teleflex. Close collaboration with the structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering consultants on the project also helped ensure the busy, three-shift manufacturing plant remained active and online during construction. "MPA was focused on moving the project and our manufacturing process forward, with a plan that helped us avoid any disruptions to our daily productivity," said Clayton Creamer, Teleflex operations manager. "Their participation helped us achieve our end-goal for increased production of quality products on schedule." The design features a new electrical service, new fire protection services, including a smoke control system, and an HVAC system designed for clean manufacturing.
