Lynnwell Associates’ 25th year as NECA contractor features lab projects – BC Merkert Labs, Alkermes in Cambridge, and UMass. Boston; firm also completes MWRA SCADA project

Lynnwell Associates is a multifaceted electrical construction company founded in 1981 by Dennis Mahoney, president and Fred Richardson, vice president. The contracting firm provides comprehensive electrical services for commercial, institutional, municipal and industrial projects throughout Greater Boston, including the installation of power distribution and electrical systems, tel/data, fire alarm, and security systems. Lynnwell has recently completed prominent projects at Harvard Medical School’s Jeffery Modell Center and UMass. Boston Research Laboratories. The company also completed electrical construction of the new Boston Public Branch Library in 2009 and Sacred Heart Church in Weymouth. In September 2009, work was completed on the Mass. Water Resource Authority SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) project. In this nearly $5 million project, Lynnwell served as prime electrical contractor, providing instrumentation and control system installations for several MWRA wastewater treatment facilities in Boston. At peak construction during the 15-month project, Lynnwell supervised a field crew of 15 IBEW Local 103 electricians. Critical to the project scope was Lynnwell’s ability to keep the MWRA facilities fully operational while all aspects of the work were accomplished. In commenting on serving the industry for a quarter century, Mahoney said, “The dedication and experience of Lynnwell’s staff are key factors in our ability to serve our clients well and it has lead to our stability and growth.” Lynnwell Assoc. office staff and field crew is comprised of 36 professionals, as the firm provides in-house estimating, accounting, and project management to support its electrical construction services. The company has consistently demonstrated an excellent safety record, which Mahoney attributes to its safety program, headed by safety officer Arthur Claes. Projects that contributed to Lynnwell’s early growth included several federal projects for the US Navy, at South Weymouth Naval Station and the USS Constitution. Over the years, Lynnwell has been called upon to provide specialty electrical installation projects for the White House Press Corps and the U.S. Secret Service during several Presidential visits to Boston. The South Boston NECA member has also handled flood emergency work for FEMA. Projects underway include Larsen Hall in Cambridge and the McCormack Federal Building in Boston.
