Lupoli Companies signs Melmark of New England to 4,200 s/f at Riverwalk Properties

Riverwalk Properties - Lawrence, MA Riverwalk Properties - Lawrence, MA

Lawrence, MA According to Lupoli Companies, Melmark of New England has recently joined them at their premier 46-acre office campus, Riverwalk Properties. Securing a 5-year lease for 4,200 s/f of space with additional expansion to take place later this year, Gerry-Lynn Darcy, VP of real estate for Lupoli Companies sees great opportunities for synergy and growth.

Melmark is an educational, clinical, residential and vocational program that serves the needs of children and young adults from MA, NH and beyond who are ages 3-21 with autism spectrum disorders, acquired brain injury, neurological diseases and disorders, dual diagnosis and severe challenging behaviors. When an individual turns 22 and “ages out” of public school funding, they enter the world of adult services and are supported by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS). Melmark leadership recognized that these individuals require the same level of staffing and support that they had in the school setting. With the support of DDS, families and other advocates, they created adult day and residential programs that are appropriate for these individuals. Their Riverwalk Properties location is home to a new adult day program that provides vocational training, community engagement and activities of daily living for adults aged 22 and over. “We are very excited to have this pilot program at our Riverwalk facility and we are extremely optimistic about Melmark’s plan for future growth here at Riverwalk,” said Lawrence Bergman, leasing broker at Riverwalk Properties.

“After seeing the exposed brick, natural light and great potential for program space at Riverwalk, it was an easy choice to develop the site of Melmark New England’s first adult day program there. Easy access to the highway, close proximity for our staff and families, and the resources and support of the Lupoli Companies and other Riverwalk tenants helped seal our decision to locate the program in Lawrence”, said Helena Maguire, Senior Director of School Services for Melmark New England.
