JM Electrical Company and Navitas System Integration complete system at Serenity Apartments

Jamaica Plain, MA JM Electrical Company, Inc. has completed project operations at Longwood Development’s Serenity Apartments, a 16-story, 195-residence apartment complex on South Huntington Ave.

Working with Navitas System Integration (NSI), the companies installed standalone controls in the residential units and direct digital controls in common areas, maximizing efficiency. JM also installed the control wiring for the critical fuel oil delivery system for the standby generator as well as the CO monitoring system in the 100 car parking garage, crucial to life safety in the event of elevated CO emissions.

“Longwood Group’s dedication to sustainability certainly shows in this development, and we were happy to be on the project,” said Niall Black, project manager at JM. “Serenity is a LEED certified building with many sustainable characteristics, including the automatic and standalone controls installed by JM and Navitas, which will ensure the building’s energy efficiency and keep operating costs down.”

Serenity apartments will be LEED Gold certified.

The residences will have water-flow efficient kitchens and bathrooms, as well as efficient windows and appliances. Additionally, the development is nearby multiple modes of transportation including the 39 MBTA Bus, and the Green Line’s Riverway and Back of the Hill stops on the E branch. It will also feature car charging stations, bicycle storage, and 106 parking spaces.

“It’s great to see another building in the city uphold such high standards for sustainability throughout its construction and unit design, and we were happy to contribute to the job alongside the practiced team at JM Electrical,” said Matthew Slattery at Navitas. “The development is a great addition to Huntington Ave.”

Designed by Prellwitz Chilinski Associates, Inc., the mixed-use building contains 2,100 square feet of retail space in addition to the residences, which range from one- to three-bedrooms. Twenty-four of the apartments will overlook Olmsted Park. Amenities in the development include a swimming pool, fitness center, and green roof deck.

Tony Rosa, JM Electrical’s foreman on the job, oversaw a team of three electricians over the course of the six month project to ensure it was completed on time and on budget.

JM Electrical has more than 30 years of experience and expertise in the installation of advanced control and automation systems, and has completed multiple large-scale installations at developments in the Greater Boston area recently.
