JM Coull Safety Program is third-time "Diamond" recipient
JM Coull, a construction management and design-build firm, has merited the diamond-level safety award from the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) for a third year. The ABC of Massachusetts presented the award at its Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) Awards banquet in Stoneham on May 16th.
In 2011, JM Coull became the first and only recipient of the "Diamond" award in the state and has subsequently received the designation in 2012 and 2013. ABC added the Diamond level to its STEP program to recognize select member companies that meet the very highest qualifications for safety preparedness and performance. Candidate evaluations are based on incidence rates (accidents) and experience modification rate (EMR) for the application year.
JM Coull has achieved other distinctions conferred by ABC, including "Certified Green Contractor" (one of only two firms in the state to earn this designation) and "Accredited Quality Contractor." To qualify for each certification, JM Coull was required to meet specific standards and undergo independent evaluation.
"One of our core values is 'relentless improvement,' and we use the ABC programs as benchmarks in our ongoing pursuit of that goal," said JM Coull president Andrew Coull.
"ABC is continually raising the bar on its standards of excellence. Our industry is fortunate to have a professional organization that encourages and recognizes high level performance."
JM Coull is also a consistent winner in the ABC's annual Excellence in Construction Awards program. In 2012, the company entry won three awards for construction excellence and a "Green" award for sustainable construction.
JM Coull specializes in facilities for advanced technology, life sciences, education, health care and manufacturing. From its offices in Maynard, Mass., and Shelton, Conn., the firm services clients throughout New England.
