Jewett Construction completes renovation for Gengras Motor Cars

East Hartford, CT In October of 2022 Jewett Construction teamed up with Gengras Motor Cars to renovate their Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Volkswagen dealerships. The Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram facility finished its fully occupied renovation without disturbing Gengras’ ability to execute sales and was completed in January. The 17,000 s/f interior renovation included updates to the showroom, service area, and customer lounge area. The updated space provides a new experience to their customers. They took the same approach with Gengras Motor Cars Volkswagen renovation which is currently underway and scheduled to be completed by the end of March.

This is not the first time Jewett has partnered with Gengras Motor Cars on a dealership project. In 2020 Jewett completed construction on a ground-up Honda Generation 3 building for Gengras Upper Valley Honda. That dealership sits on 4.74 acres which officially relocated the dealer location from New Hampshire to Vermont. The client has been so impressed with Jewett’s work over the years that they have signed on for three additional construction projects with Jewett for three of their other major automotive brands.

“It has been a joy and a pleasure to work with Gengras Motor Cars on these projects thus far. The Gengras and Jewett relationship has been a great experience for both parties. These projects have gone so well that Gengras has asked us to complete additional jobs with the other brands under the Gengras umbrella. It’s always a fun and exciting experience when you have a client that “gets it”. The Gengras group has been very cooperative in the process; they’ve been interested in understanding the scope, understanding our process, and approaching the project as a true partner. It always makes for a great experience when you have a client that wants to be so involved. We look forward to this continued partnership; there are sure to be some amazing projects to come,” said Tom Marturano, Jewett project manager.

State legislature ends session without passing PLA bill - by Joe Camilo

Massachusetts taxpayers dodged a bullet when the state Senate didn’t take up legislation passed by the House in the waning moments of the legislative session that would have made it easier for municipalities and state agencies to use union-only project labor agreements (PLAs) on construction projects.

When it comes to corporate interior spaces for both commercial and industrial projects, partnering with a design-build firm with in-house interior design services can offer clients many benefits. Ask the Electrician: How do I prepare my commercial building for a disaster?

New England’s notorious weather – from fierce winter storms to summer squalls and fall hurricanes – can leave businesses in the dark. While power outages are often blamed on storms, they can also be caused by unforeseen events like accidents or construction mishaps. While it’s impossible to prevent disasters and power outages entirely, proactive preparation can significantly minimize their impact on your commercial building.
