Jewett Construction begins $4m green building project for U.S.D.A Forest Service

Jewett Construction recently began work on the $4 million project for the USDA Forest Service Administration complex. The project is designed to achieve a LEED Silver Certification by the The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a non-profit organization committed to expanding sustainable building practices. Completion is slated for April. The project consists of site construction on approximately 12 acres including all site utilities, roads, and parking areas. Jewett will also be constructing three pre-engineered metal buildings totaling 14,500 s/f, to be used as warehouse space, vehicle storage, and the site power plant. Jewett has partnered with local subcontractors on the project such as Hiltz Excavating Inc. of Ashland, and Cullen Concrete Form Company of Northfield, NH. Craig Jewett, Jewett Construction company president stated "It's exciting to put our on-staff LEED accredited professionals to work on another green project."
