JC&A and SG&A earn 2007 IIDA award

J. Calnan & Associates, Inc. (JC&A) and Spagnolo Gisness & Associates, Inc. (SG&A), received the 2007 Interior Design Award in the sustainable category for its Viega USA project. Winners were announced at the New England Chapter of the International Interior Design Association's (IIDA NE) award ceremony held at the new Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston. The Viega USA team included construction manager, JC&A; architect, SG&A; project client, Viega USA; lighting representative, Boston Light Source; and furniture vendor, Office Environments. The 2007 IIDA Interior Design awards recognized JC&A's and SG&A's Viega USA project for its innovative use of, and dedication to, teamwork to achieve the client's goals within sustainable design framework. Sustainable design entries did not require LEED certification, but had to employ sustainable techniques in the design. "The team consistently collaborated throughout the project to employ the best sustainable solutions identified, one in which resulted in a spectacular color-changing lighting display behind the reception desk," said Steve Robak, project executive. Viega USA, located in Nashua, NH, utilized Viega USA's radiant heating, plumbing and snow-melting products in the design of its 14,000 s/f training facility. The center offers contractors the ability to learn and use the company's products while the use of Viega's products incorporate its corporate mission of sustainability into the design.
