IREM's 10th annual Leadership and Legislative Summit slated for May 1-5

The 10th annual Leadership and Legislative Summit of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) will be held from May 1 to 5 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C. The summit brings together real estate management industry leaders in an dynamic, interactive forum that addresses major business challenges and opportunities presented by today's turbulent times, emerging legislative issues of industry interest, IREM governance-related matters, and much more. Highlighting the event is Capitol Hill Visit Day, when IREM members meet with members of Congress and their key aides to discuss legislative issues of concern to the commercial real estate industry. IREM president Randall Woodbury, CPM, commenting on the summit's upcoming 10th anniversary, said, "We reflect on and applaud the thousands of IREM members who have journeyed to Washington, D.C. over the past decade to facilitate progress in the real estate management industry and within IREM. Clearly, summit participants shape legislation that directly affects our industry and our day-to-day business practices. "Moreover," he continued, "because this year's gathering comes at one of the most pivotal times in our nation's history, we sense that our collective voices and knowledge can have a truly profound and lasting impact on the industry at large." Diverse Programs Planned The summit features a wide variety of program offerings. In addition to Capitol Hill Visit Day, the following provide a representative sampling: * A workshop on how to use behavioral interviewing to make better hiring decisions; * A Kentucky Derby Party, with proceeds earmarked for the IREM Foundation; * A keynote address by journalist, commentator and Washington, D.C. insider Steve Roberts; * An interactive "Professional Edge" program focusing on how the role of the real estate manager is changing, and why leadership skills are as important as management skills for the "New Real Estate Manager;" and * Federal issues briefing and Capitol Hill visit orientation program to prepare participants for this year's Hill visits. Registration and Additional Information The registration fee for the summit is $385 until April 1, and $435 thereafter. Single-day passes also are available; they are priced at $265 until April 1, and $315 thereafter.
