IREM leadership and legislative summit slated for April 12th to 16th

The annual Leadership and Legislative Summit of the Institute of Real Estate Management will be held from April 12th to 16th at the JW Marriott Hotel. The event will feature interactive forums and committee meetings that focus on IREM member interests ranging from chapter operations to legislative issues emerging at the state and local levels. The Summit brings together leaders in the real estate management industry to discuss critical industry issues such as technology, workforce development, business competition, risk management, and sustainability. An annual awards presentation honoring outstanding IREM chapters and members also is on the agenda. The Summit's keynote speaker is journalist and commentator Steve Roberts who appears regularly on public television's Washington Week, CNN's Late Edition and the ABC radio network. With over 30 years of news media experience, Roberts and his wife, TV and radio personality Cokie Roberts, write a nationally syndicated newspaper column anchored in the New York Daily News and are contributing writers to USA Weekend. A highlight of the Summit is Capitol Hill Visit Day, when IREM members join with members of the CCIM Institute to meet with members of Congress and their key aides. The purpose of the meetings is to promote awareness and understanding of key legislative issues of concern to the commercial real estate industry and to communicate the industry's position on these issues. The registration fee for the Summit is $350 until March 17th, and $400 thereafter.  Single-day passes also are available; they are priced at $235 until March 17th, and $285 thereafter. Additional conference information and online registration are available at www.irem.org.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.
