Institute for Responsible Housing Preservation elects Pierce for 2020 treasurer

Richard Pierce

Quincy, MA Richard Pierce has been elected 2020 treasurer of the Institute for Responsible Housing Preservation (IRHP).

IRHP was established in 1989 to represent the views of owners and managers of HUD-subsidized affordable housing properties and was instrumental in the enactment of the Low Income Housing Preservation and Resident Homeownership Act.  IRHP and its members are in the forefront of the preservation of affordable housing. Pierce has been an active member of IRHP for 15 years.

Pierce is president and partner of Housing Management Resources, Inc., a nationwide manager of affordable housing properties, with its corporate headquarters located in Quincy.

Pierce brings more than 40 years’ experience in property development, management, financing and permitting.  He currently serves on the board of directors of Envision Bank.  He is the former assistant secretary of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Consumer Affairs.

Pierce also serves on the board of the National Leased Housing Association and is a member of the National Housing and Rehabilitation Association. Pierce is also on the board of directors of Acadia Housing and Sage Housing Inc., non-profit entities which own affordable housing properties.

“We are so proud of Rich and his recent nomination as Treasurer of IRHP,” said Roger Gendron, of Silver Street Development, a nationally recognized affordable housing developer. “He is a respected member of many affiliations and I know that he will do amazing things. Rich brings both leadership experience and connections that will support the association.”

Pierce’s community service includes membership in the Quincy Chamber of Commerce, former chair of the board of the Woodward School of Girls and a member of the Board of Overseers of the New England Aquarium.
