IES partners with 10 for green architectural and engineering campaign

Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) named the recipients of its free Virtual Environment software for this year's Academic Campaign. IES selected a key group of institutions offering architectural and engineering programs that promote sustainable design to receive full access to its Virtual Environment software free for one year. These schools' mission to teach students how to deliver sustainable building design through hands-on learning and curriculum is key for the future of our buildings and cities. The 2012 Academic Campaign participants are: * British Columbia Institute of Technology * Harvard University * Humber College * North Carolina State University * Southern Polytechnic State University * The Boston Architectural College * University of British Columbia * University of Minnesota * University of Nebraska at Omaha * University of Wisconsin at Madison This is the second year IES is running its Academic Campaign, following a successful first year in 2011. The 2012 campaign is almost to capacity, but interested parties should contact Erin Lofstrom (erin.lofstrom@iesve.com). IES is also currently accepting participants for 2013. For almost two decades, IES has been pushing the ethos of integrated design and incorporation of performance analysis from the earliest stages of a project to achieve truly sustainable, low-energy structures. IES' Academic Campaign is one more way in which they are helping the next generation of architects and engineers make sustainable buildings a reality. "We are proud to provide the students at these institutions with our software. Giving the future of the industry the opportunity to employ real-world analysis skills and techniques in the classroom is incredibly important to us," said Dr. Don McLean, founder and CEO of IES. "The goal of our Academic Campaign is to provide hands-on training using IES' software which gives architects and engineers the skills they need before they enter the workforce. Many companies now request experience in our software as a key employment skill." For colleges and universities interested in using analysis software as part of the curriculum for architecture and engineering classes, VE-Gaia is free to all academics.
