Governor Malloy attends kick-off event for Solar For All

New Haven, CT Governor Malloy spoke at a kick-off event for Solar For All at the New Haven Neighborhood Services facility. Solar For All offers the installation of solar power and energy efficiency measures, financed through a public-private partnership between PosiGen and the Connecticut Green Bank, to residential home owners. The innovative financing program combines a solar lease with an energy savings agreement to lower the energy burden of participating households. Also speaking at the event with the governor was Bryan Garcia, president and CEO of the Green Bank, Tom Neyhart, CEO of PosiGen Solar and Energy Efficiency, Serena Neal-Sanjurjo, director of New Haven’s Livable City Initiative, and Annie Harper, New Haven’s Energy Task Force.

In a concerted effort to extend the reach of the governor’s renewable energy policies, the Green Bank has teamed up with PosiGen, a New Orleans solar company who located its New England business in Bridgeport. Focused on closing what many see as a clean energy affordability gap, the partnership is designed to give people access to an affordable solar leasing structure that will deliver energy savings for families susceptible to rising energy costs.

“Connecticut’s innovative programs are reducing energy costs for households of all income levels, creating local jobs, and combating global warming. Commonsense policy is moving our state forward on multiple—and critical—fronts,” Governor Malloy said.  “Through these public-private partnerships and forward-thinking approaches, we are scaling clean energy deployment in Connecticut as we grow jobs. This program helps us take another step forward.”

The Connecticut Green Bank is investing in PosiGen to provide low-cost debt capital and a tiered incentive for participating households in communities across the state. “This partnership with PosiGen, and their private investors, will lower the energy burden on limited income households through financing and the deployment of clean energy,” states Bryan Garcia, President and CEO of the Connecticut Green Bank. “As Connecticut continues to deploy more and more clean energy in our communities, we want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to realize the benefits it offers.”

PosiGen targets its efforts on improving the financial sustainability of low-to-moderate income families who are most susceptible to rising energy costs by reducing their energy consumption and providing opportunities to leverage state and federal incentives. The goal of Solar For All is to ensure that all homeowners in Connecticut have the opportunity to enjoy full-size residential solar systems installed on suitable homes, regardless of income or credit score.

“At PosiGen, we believe solar and energy efficiency are for everyone,” says Tom Neyhart, CEO of PosiGen.  Low- to-moderate income families pay up to four times more of their monthly income on utilities compared to more affluent homeowners.  They will benefit the most from PosiGen’s Make Power – Save Power program.  By combining low cost clean electricity from solar and reducing the homes’ consumption of power through energy efficiency, PosiGen is able to get the biggest savings possible for their customers.”

Neyhart is proud of what the partnership with Connecticut Green Bank will mean for the people of this state. “The Connecticut Green Bank truly embodies the ideal of what a green bank should be,” Neyhart states. “They support private industry in emerging renewable energy markets in their state. They are executing incredibly well on their charter to create industry, jobs and clean energy in Connecticut. The bottom line is the Connecticut Green Bank wants to put solar up on every home in Connecticut and PosiGen is working with them to do just that!”

Applications for the Solar For All program are being accepted now, so homeowners are encouraged to contact PosiGen today at 203-416-6518 or 1-866-PosiGen to take advantage of this exceptional opportunity to become a solar home in New Haven.

The Connecticut Green Bank (formerly the Clean Energy Finance and Investment Authority) was established by the Connecticut General Assembly on July 1, 2011 as a part of Public Act 11-80. As the nation’s first full-scale green bank, it is leading the clean energy finance movement by leveraging public and private funds to scale-up renewable energy deployment and energy efficiency projects across Connecticut. The Green Bank’s success in accelerating private investment in clean energy is helping Connecticut create jobs, increase economic prosperity, promote energy security and address climate change.

Headquartered in New Orleans, PosiGen Solar and Energy Efficiency is one of the nation’s leading residential solar, energy efficiency and energy education providers. PosiGen has more than 7,500 residential customers, 165 direct employees and 150 contract employees in Louisiana, Connecticut, and New York. PosiGen’s unique services and products make solar energy affordable to homeowners of all income levels, and offer individuals, families and businesses the opportunity to achieve greater fiscal autonomy and energy independence by lowering their utility bills.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.

The industrial markets have never been stronger. What has happened is that the build out of Devens with new high-tech biotech manufacturing with housing to service these buildings serves as the connector required to really make the I-495 West market sizzle. Worcester has been the beneficiary
