Forgione of RE/MAX Prestige named Unsung Heroine by Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women
According to RE/MAX of New England, Debora Forgione, associate broker, was recently selected by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW) as one of the Commonwealth's Unsung Heroines of 2012. She was honored for her involvement with the Pawtucketville Citizens Council in Lowell.
"We are incredibly proud of Debora and the hard work and time she's dedicated at the Pawtucketville Citizens Council," said Dan Breault, executive vice president and regional director of RE/MAX of New England. "She's devoted countless hours helping to preserve her neighborhood, and she absolutely demonstrates the characteristics of an unsung heroine."
Forgione has been a member of the Pawtucketville Citizens Council since 1996. She's held positions as an executive board member, secretary and as the 2010 chairwoman. She joined the council because she wanted to be an advocate for her neighborhood in Lowell and wanted to ensure she had a voice in her community comprised of more than 100,000 residents. She attends monthly meetings, as well as zoning, planning, and conservation board meetings to ensure the Pawtucketville Citizens Council is informed with the most current news. Forgione also works with several community organizations that the Council partners with, such as UMASS Lowell, Lowell General Hospital and the Lowell Police Department for community fundraising and promotional events.
"Volunteering in my community brings me tremendous joy," said Forgione. "It's extremely rewarding to help a neighbor learn how they can get their sidewalk fixed or assist a friend or relative with securing emergency housing."
Debora was honored with her Unsung Heroine award at the 2012 Unsung Heroines Ceremony on May 16Â at the Massachusetts State House.
