Finn, Hathaway, Leuschner, Olean and Work join GEI Consultants as sr. experts in MGP site investigation
GEI Consultants, Inc., one of the nation's leading geotechnical, environmental, water resources, and ecological science and engineering firms announced today that five senior engineers with extensive experience in Manufactured Gas Plant (MGP) site investigation and remediation have joined the firm, located throughout the Northeast.
Each senior expert brings significant technical and management experience to GEI's existing MGP practice. GEI's MGP experience includes work at sites where a long history of varied manufacturing uses resulted in multiple sources and types of contamination in need of investigation and remediation planning and implementation. Elements of GEI's MGP practice include historical investigations, site characterizations, risk assessments and feasibility studies. GEI has performed this work at nearly 500 MGP sites for utility and industrial clients and has completed over 50 remedial designs for MGP sites. GEI is often selected to evaluate new or innovative ways to deal with MGP contaminants and wastes of concern.
"These new additions to our Utilities team have been well known to - and admired by - GEI and those in the MGP industry for many years," said David Terry, P.G., LEP, vice president and member of GEI's board of directors. "This is an opportunity to greatly enhance GEI's electric and gas utility service capabilities for our clients."
John Finn, P.E. is located in Ithaca, N.Y. Roger Hathaway, P.E. and Timothy Olean are located in Glastonbury, Conn. Alfred Leuschner is located in Woburn, Mass., and Dave Work is located in Montclair, N.J.
Finn has specialized in MGP remediation and remediation of contaminated sediments for over 24 years. His strengths include client relations and the negotiation of regulatory issues. He particularly enjoys building high-performance, multi-disciplinary teams focused on remediation engineering. Most recently, Finn held the positions of remediation engineer, account manager and operations manager. Active in numerous professional organizations, he is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the states of New York, Georgia, and Washington. He graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, and from Cornell University with a master's degree in agricultural engineering with a focus on waste management. Finn joins GEI as a senior manager.
Hathaway has spent over 20 years in the field of environmental remediation with a primary focus on compliance management programs. He specializes in the management of manufactured plant site remediation programs, urban property remediation, urban waterways, regulatory negotiations, and stakeholder communications. In addition, he has been heavily involved in the public relations and communications coordination for two utilities in New York state. Responsibilities for this project include developing communication strategies, regulatory negotiations and the management of MGP remediation in a complex political environment. Hathaway is a licensed Professional Engineer in Maine and has a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Leuschner is a recognized leader in the MGP/Utility Market with over 30 years of experience. One of his key responsibilities will be to help expand GEI's MGP/Utility practice. His specialties include design, waste characterization and economic analysis of sludge treatment and disposal systems, project management, data analysis, and experimental design involving the feasibility of generating energy from agricultural residues through the use of anaerobic digestion. Widely published, he is also a former chapter president of the Chi Epsilon and Tau Beta Pi honor societies. Leuschner received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Vermont and his master's degree in environmental engineering from Cornell University.
Olean is a service line manager for remediation, construction and operations with over 21 years of experience. He has extensive experience in program construction management and project management, subcontractor management and cost control for large-scale remediation construction projects. He is also well versed in alternative development, review and selection, detailed cost estimating, and project design and constructability review, all as they relate to remediation services. Olean obtained his bachelor's degree in engineering management from the University of Vermont.
Work is a professional engineer in the states of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. He has over 12 years of experience in environmental engineering and project management focused specifically on operations management, engineering design, construction, strategic planning, program/project management, process improvement and business development. His technical experience is centered on the environmental construction activities of large site manufactured gas plants in heavily urbanized environments. Work received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Lehigh University and his master's of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Mass.
